I bet he had bent the valves before the damage truly began. There are a lot of marks where the valve hit the piston. He's either got a huge cam, high ratio rockers or severely milled heads to raise compression.

Like stssilver. said .... was he juicing it or what? How big of a shot?
Damn now that sucks.I am curious if he only sprayed a 150 shot when that happened???
It happened during an NA run. So, I'm sure the damage was already there.
Hey Red, you're probably right, what do you think about those valve marks on the piston, I saw this and thought right away the valves were hitting, kind of obvious.
What about the black intake valve and very clean exhaust valve?
Iron block is on the way!
allen
The condition of the valves lead me to believe they were bent. It all could have to do with the self-destruction going on.
Damn, that pic 108 has the dot on the piston rotated around. I guess that rod is broken in multiple pieces. Did the valve springs collapse? I see light between the valves and seats. The engine looks like someone raised the rev-limiter beyond reality. Have you scanned the tune in the PCM?
Is there any way that the intake valve being that is has fuel on top of it all the time and nitrous sometimes is cooler than the exhaust valve and could cause build up to occur faster?? Like allen i am just curious!
WOW...what a mess!!!

I agree with red on the revs. That or something was not matched up like it was suppose to be. Weak or bad springs. Maybe miss boxed springs. How many runs did he have on the engine? The springs will only last so long then they need replaced. Just my :twocents:
I don't think it was Nitrous.
The pistons are too dirty on top and there are no signs of excessive heat on the intake or exhaust valves.
There was a little heat on the exhaust valves because they were held open. No flow = heat.
The spark plugs look too good for nitrous.
Allen, what did the intake look like?
What did the timing chain look like?
I'm leaning towards a clearance or timing issue. If anything, with the way the pistons look, it was running a little rich. JMHO
He did not miss a gear did he? WING POP.
