Gonna try that tomorrow. The gauge was tested I n my friends 09 Avalanche and registered 50psi with just the ignition on. It appears the gauge is good. My plugs are fouled with fuel from all the start attempts which im sure means the cylinders are full of fuel as well which would explain the no start. I guess my question is where should I be connecting the grn/wht fuel pump wire from the PCM? Apparently connecting it to one of the relay wires is not working. Again thanks for the replys.

Have you had it on a scanner? Im wondering if you don't have either a coolant temp problem, or iat sender problem. A problem with either will make it pig rich on startup, seems like pcm thinks its -38. It'll make it pretty hard to restart as well if motor has warmed up. I don't think low pressure (30-40's anyway) would cause you to be fouling plugs or smell that rich. I know of a jeep here locally with a 5.3 thats been running around for a couple years on like 38psi.

I think I may have a bigger issue. This weekend I was finally able to install the radiator. The previous runs of the engine, (when it would run) consisted of a minute to two at a time. Nonetheless, as I was adding water, I noticed the water was turning black. Prior to adding water, the water pump was sealed off to keep out debris. As the engine ran, I checked the temp gauge which showed it to be overheating. The engine had only run a minute or two before I noticed this and shut it off. I cleaned the radiator and attempted to flush the engine of what I could and the truck would not start again. Instead, I had a backfire through the intake which blew the screen off the MAF and into the Spectre filter. I smelled the black water in the reservoir and did not detect exhaust fumes but I have a bad feeling the head gaskets are gone and who knows what else. If I remember correctly, when I was installing this engine, I read somewhere about which heads to stay away from and believe those may be on my engine. Keep ya posted. Again, thanks for all the input.
