You know, how much extra does it really cost to make the Denali cluster over the standard Sierra/Silverado cluster? I have never understood why car companies equip cars with dummy lights instead of gauges. What's the price difference to the manufacturer, $3 each? I'd gladly have paid an extra $100 for a speedo that went to 120 and a tranny temp gauge instead of a stupid light.
hmm well this escalade gauge is great and all but thats not what i wanted to know lol i was wonderin about drilling a hole in my tranny pan.. plus autometer guages look better anyway oh and i already have the gauge so theres no talkig me out of it
Well, you do what you gotta do, but I'm not sure there's many people who have done that to a silverado...Quote:

You will have to drill a hole in the pan. The pan will have to come off.
How does the sensor connect to the pan? Is it one of those self threading deals, uses an internal locking nut or screwed it into threads you cut? How far will it protrude into the pan? You gotta make sure to clear the filter.
For location I'd put it on the back side of the pan, maybe centered 2" up from the bottom. Make sure you are clearing the filter. You need to clear the filter, but still have the sensor in the accumulated fluid.
For not a whole lot more $$$ you could get a decent sheet metal pan w/ a couple of qts more fluid capacity, plus a real drain hole. Both good things. Use that pan for installing sensor, you should be able to get away with another inch, maybe two, of clearance from the pan bottom. Plus, you'd still have your stock pan, just in case for a back out plan.
Put your sensor wires in a loom (tubing) when running them. That's a harsh place down there.
Follow the instructions for the fluid refill to a "T".
Good luck.
Sorry for the jack :whack: , did not know if you thought of the alternative...
Sorry for continuing the Jack. :nutz: But I have been thinking about changing the dash panel to a escalade look.

My 01 Z71 MPH only goes to 100 is there any recal that has to take place?
i might go with the new pan that sounds like a good idea it would be easier then i could just get the weld-in adapter and be done with it thanks
