I agree. That aluminum can patch is clever.

Just FYI orange high temp sealer on the inside of the can will make it last longer. I did this once on my clamps till I could get the pipes welded. After it worked so I good I never got it welded. Thought the clamps would make it easy to remove the exhaust to pull the trans in the future.

This is what I'm going to have to do when I have time. Gotta order new clamps because these are junk, but then going to coat them with high temp and let them sit for a few days.

Which clamps did you use?

I picked up some stainless band clamps from Pep-boys and they worked great the first time I tightened them down...after the trans had work done and they took the ORY off....not so much. Im thinking about having the joints on the ORY welded together and having some 2 or 3 bolt flanges welded onto the collectors and ORY....maybe doing a little shortening on the ORY just a little so that its still easily removed.

I just don't want to weld clamps on these headers, in case I ever try to sell them... (in a year or two)

When I had to take my Y pipe off to do my stall I had to use an air chisel to get it off and it screwed up the Y a little.

Yeah thats part of why I want to weld them....There is so much rust and they have just been together for so long that they dont come apart anyway. :lol:

Yeah if/when I go turbo it would be nice to sell them as they were new, but at the same time I need to think about the present more than the future and these are gonna be on for quite a while anyway. Im tired of having freaking exhaust leaks and tired of not getting a "real" reading on the WB.

I'm not even going to show my temp fix until I find some good clamps and get mine sorted out. Let's just say... header wrap works nice too.
