I live in Austin, and do most of my skiing at a tournament lake called Frameswitch. It's nice not having to deal with any other boat traffic when skiing. For fun it's Lake Travis or Lake Austin. I'm about 20 miles from each lake.
The Houseboat sounds awesome.
Texas winters are horrible just cold enought you can't enjoy the outdoors, but just warm enought you feel guilty about it.
Talk to you later.
Lake Shasta is pretty. Lots of big old pines all around it. I only saw it while passing through. I bet that water is damn cold.
Lake Austin is pretty chilly also. It's fed from the bottom of another lake. They are all man made aorund here. The water temp on the north side of the lake is around 67deg. That's really chilly, but refreshing when it's 100 outside.
Lake Shasta sounds like a great place.
Actually, from July to October it is anywhere from 70 to as high as 83+! If will flat shrink your noodle in the winter though...Since I am a total fair weather skier, it is not an issue for me. The nice thing is about mid May the temps start climbing and by summer time it is 100+ at the lake. Almost like the weather in Texas, I think.
