it's true that VortecMax silverados came with a 14 bolt. I found a 2007 nnbs with the vortecmax packagethat is being parted out. How strong is the posi in those 9.5 units?
There's plenty of 600+ horsepower trucks running 10 bolts. Throw in some quality gears and a diff, weld the axle tubes to the center housing and it'll be fine. The factory G80 in the 14 bolt is just as much a piece of crap as the one in the 10 bolt.
I figured that g80 was a turd too. From what I've read some people are blowing their rears truetracs and gears in their 10 bolts. I have a heavy ass ccsb so I thought I would prolly blow one too. But IDK. Throwing a truetrac in my 10 bolt would definately be the better option for me because it is cheaper. Any guys with that much power that have a ccsb and 10 bolt running truetracs w/o any issues?
i have put my ten bolt threw hell with a tru tac. i tore the g80 up. but it didnt hurt anythuing else. now my transmisson im workin on gettin a bullet proof truck. but idk if i will just get a junk yard transmisson and sell it and get the avalanche i want. put for the point if i ten bolt can hold up to me then i think you will be fine. mines been truck pulled and we used to pull each other backwards and it aint hurt it since i put the tru trac in it.
