Botoom line is I wont convince you to like Chevy engines.Moderate power is...let me guess 350hp, anything up is kind of a hot rod. Still, the torque for pulling/towing in the LS is in the rigth place.
But any truck owner is a sport car posser. So all the Tundra owners now check first to see if the crewcabs are 6.0L with 6 speed, cause stock to stock, size been the same, chevy smokes Tundras. So they say is a bigger engine, but they do the same to the 5.3L guys.

The genius behind the LS based engines is in the tooling accuracy and piece cost to build them. GM produces LS based engine with less that 2 PPM. That means Problems Per Million. Which means for every million engines, 2 are not within specifications and cannot be used. I don't know the toyota production data, but i could almost guarantee that with their more complex engine borrowing racing parts, they don't have nearly as consistent production practices.
On top of all of that, the LS engine was built on a foundation of nearly 100 years of racing automobiles. And the fact that They produce so much power with the same old Pushrod 16v V8 is astounding. There is not other company in the world today that makes a more powerful Pushrod ''production'' engine. And with just a few upgrades, they overpower all others in the genre.
Chevy makes a quality product and so does Toyota. But which one has more Potential? Which costs the least to build into a monster. And which one will you drive like you stole it, park it for 20 years and let you kid drive it through highschool without anything more than an oil change, some fresh gas, and a new set of tires. . .
This is the dumbest thread Ive ever commented on. Any V8 out on the market right now is going to be a good motor. No manufacturer can get away with an unreliable engine anymore, so comparing durability is foolish. Im a Chevy man thru and thru, but Im pretty sure that the Tundra V8's are very good at what they do, also. Just enjoy your truck and try to make it better. Quit worrying about what your friends tell you is a better product....make your own choice and live with it
