I've heard they're the same pistons used in the 4.8 and 5.3 engines. The trick is getting the right weight piston so the engine is still balanced. Most all GM pistons are supposed to be the same weight within a couple grams. You can buy one complete rod assembly from GM with the rings already hung and ready to install. :thumb:

sweet i didnt know that!
an your 4.8 stuff will swap right over too :)

hey ken did he ever run it with that piston like that?that the reason he swapped it?
-
no he swapped cams, it was a .588 cam, he had single valve springs an it broke at idle. good thing he heard a noise as it broke an shut the truck off. it broke on its compression stroke at almost TDC so it didnt touch the cyl wall.
he pulled the valve covers an seen the valve dropped so he pulled the engine an sold the heads an bought his 6.2
i used my cell phone for the pics but ill get better pics with my digi camera an get them up.

Factory rotator parts are supposed to be ''0'' ballance, so you don't need to have it blueprinted. The L92 I bought from Keith was in the same exact condition, one piston nicked up from a hanging valve or something. I thought it might have been because of VVT. Either way, I bought one new L92 piston, and will be putting it together with the rest of the rotator. Shouldn't be any problems with it.

sweet see there ya go, 1 piston an the time to pull it and your good to go.
does a 99-02 crank fit these blocks? if so i may just swap cranks an run it in my fiance's camaro if it doesnt sell soon

i have a 5.3L that had the exact same problem with a bad batch of 918 single springs and a 220/222 581/581 114lsa cam
i paid 300 for the longlbock and the cam
