why not cam your 5.3?
I really dont know, I rather cam a 6.0:) . but we will see how money lays down, if I dont get my new job than it will be a cam. the motor in my current truck is starting to make some goofy noises sounds like ticking from in the engine, and a clicking noise from the valve covers, do you have any idea what might be wrong or are these noises pretty standard.
every LS based engine ive heard has some type of ticking even brand new one.
really, wow i didnt know that, my 2002 tahoe never made any noise. and my fathers yukon only makes noise whens it cold and he doesnt let it warm up. whats ticking.
Not sure what the tickings from, someone will chime in on that one. My sisters 06 ticks at idle so does mine.
well thats good to know, thank you. that saves me some time and worrying.
When the engine sets an open valve lifter will bleed down, then when you start the motor that rocker arms a little loose so it taps a little untill the lifter fills back up.
how long should the ticking last.
that sir would hurt your gas mileage
ideally for best mpg you want to be crusing around 1800-2100 rpms for your cruise speed. This works for just about any vehicle
to the Op, my old 6litre with a 232/234 cam, 410s, 30" tire 3800 converter. i used to get 18mpg while cruising in the summer. thats with AC on
