What Generation Do i have?

gen 2 also is a one peice rear main

well it is belived to be GEN3 i put up some pictures but i never did break apart the engine and tranny.

those pictures are of a Gen3 engine

Gen 1 (SBC) - 265,283,302,305,307,327,350,400
Gen 2 - LT1, LT4
Gen 3/4 - (LSX) 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2, 7.0

Your 2001 5.3L is a GEN III.
That VIN is just an unfortunate coincidence, the first 4 digits are country and manufacturer codes. The 1 just means it was made in the US.

One piece rear seal is a horrible way to ID them anyway. There are one piece rear seals in all generations.

No, the Vortec 5.0 and 5.7 are GEN I

Only the LT1, LT4. L99 (4.3L V8) and LT5 (this one is kind of iffy) are GEN II engines.

Well i called the local dealership to ask about the Generation and they were clueless.. *L* Hey yall thanks for all the help..
