After a lot more reading, a l/s or locker in either an 8.25 or 9.25 aluminum case IFS is a really bad idea. Even worse than I thought. A 9.25 IFS conversion is pretty involved and very expensive, for only a marginal strength increase. The 9.25 aluminum case still has problems cracking with a l/s or locker.
So, I'll leave the front completely alone for now and just do a TrueTrac in the rear sometime this summer hopefully.
Then the next year I'll consider a SAS swap with another TrueTrac, but ONLY if I can resist the temptation to lift it as well. If I lift the AV and make it into an offroader, then I have no reason to resurrect my Blazer. That would break my heart. I just want the AV at the same point my Blazer was before it died, street-driven with no lift and F/R TrueTracs. It's a great package, but I'll eventually be running a LOT more power in the AV. The SAS swap would probably push back the turbo kit by another year as well, because the SAS would occupy the time and money I was planning for the 4L80E swap.
Well, crap LOL. I'd better start reading up on SAS swaps, and find out what options there are. I'd want to keep Auto-Trac and ABS if it's possible, so I'll have to be careful with selection.

With the type of driving that you have described, your front diff will handle those situations with ease. Just do the upgrades that you have decided on and call it a day. Those Avi's ride to nice, and are to civilized to do an axle swap for those conditions. As a former Avi driver and K5 owner with 38's, bring the Blazer back to life and enjoy that for off-roading. Hell either way you go, both would be great. I have always been a fan of Lock-Right lockers. Had them in both the front and rear of the K5. No problems and I was pushing it with 38.5's on 10 bolts and I did everything in that truck. haha. Just remember if you do decide to go with a lift and tires check the locker manufacture because only a couple warranty the locker above 33 inch tires. Good Luck
