It's not just the Vette, anything with GXP or SS on it too - the idea is since there "high performance" they will be used as such, hence the better oil. But yeah Mobil 1 has made deals with a lot of companies. I've ran it, didn't notice enough difference to even care
the oil caps on the SSS says mobile uno on it!
Mobil 1 5w-30 since mine was new. No probs. That's what I recommend to all my customers with the new GM engines at my store.
The only requirement for our engines is that the oil must meet GM 6094M standards. It was in my manuel :)
Mobil 1 FTW. 5W-30 here.
IMO--pretty ballsy to switch at that mileage. I can't tell you how many times motors have gone by the way-side just because of switching oil types. Unless you flush the motor and install a new oil pump, I would be weary on switch oil types at that mileage. But you are one of the lucky ones. :thumb:
Christain has a thing for "Manuels" apparently.
But the best thing is that TRAVIS was the one who caught the spelling mistake. Yes folks--Travis.
did it on our tahoe at about same time (02 5.3) ...and every other car i've ever owned. There's not THAT much difference. Synthetic has a lot of myths involved. Besides it not sludging, and not breaking down as easy...it's the same stuff. I'd trust synthetic in high mileage motor over conventional.
