That too would work
A true "kill switch"
There are two major things one must do on a kill switch install....
1) Hide it well
2) Make it a key switch.
You can get electrical two pole key switches anywhere that sells electrical goodies but it it's accessible then it can be bypassed so hide it.
Get creative. Make it so that when the switch is off it doesn't just open a circuit that can be hotwired if found....make it so that when it's off it shorts a data wire to voltage (even better than ground) so that there is no Class2 data communications. This would prevent someone with HPT or EFIL from a theft relearn as well. Come on....think....
I have a paging alarm on my truck, seems to work good. though its never been "tested". A friend of mine has the same alarm, but he added a bunch of relays, so that when the alarm is tripped, the power seat slides all the way forward and up, the seat back tilts all the way forward, the steering coulumn tilts down and teliscopes out, then all the powerseat/columncontrols lock(its on a lincoln LS) the idea was that the would be theif wouldn't be able tothen access the area under the dash with the alarm and ecm
Yeah, its a little over the top. He was the manager of the car stereo dept at best buy.
Oh another tip. If you have an alarm installed make sure they bypass the vats with a vats module thing. Not a resistor. A resistor will make it easier for the woulf be theif.
I don't remember what it was called, my buddy put it in
