I just ordered a LS6 cam and kit from Pace Performance, talking to the tech guy he said that using stock pushrods would work even though the cam has a .050 smaller base circle on it. Does anyone have any info on this?

Check your spring rate too, i know the stock ls6 cam is like .555 lift and the stock ls1 springs are good for .500, you might want to double check that but i'm pretty sure.
on the pushrods, hopefully someone will chime in, i'm not sure on that, but i def. wouldn't run a cam that was too big for my springs.

Springs come with the kit, I have talked to technical people at Pace and at Scoggins Dickey Chevrolet and they both talk like you don't need longer pushrods so if I don't hear any different I am going to use the stock ones. I considered the Hot Cam but was told that it was more race oriented and that low end would suffer and that it wasn't quite as streetable, it had more duration.
I have the 01 LS6 came and I run the stock push rods without any problems. Did you get the 01 or 02?
you can find the specs on the cams at ls1truck.com , just a reminder,
let use know how it turns out, i'm still debating on the hot cam myself, i'd really like to run 12's with the stock engine components.

Latest update:
Well I got through with a home project that I had looming over my head and wanted to finish before I started pulling parts off of the LS1, If you have never pulled a harmonic balancer off of an LS1 you are in for job. This is the second one I have pulled off, installing the ASP pulley on the 4.8 was my first. I purchased a large heavy duty strap wrench to hold my balancer and had to use a cheeter pipe on that and also used a 3/4 drive ratchet and a lot of force to finally break the bolt loose. Pulling the pulley is not bad but you have to use a 3 jaw puller instead of the usual harmonic balancer puller. I got the water pump off and the Trans/Am wiring harness, I still need to remove the oil pan and intake and timing cover to install my new cam. I am going to use the intake and oil pan off of the 4.8.
I know what you mean about projects around the house, i've got tons of them, but if i waited for them to get done, i'd never get to play with the truck, so i go back and forth.
When i pulled one, we had to take it to the firestone store to have them use their HD impact to take it off, it was a pita. i bet your's was with just a strap wrench and whatever you used, hahaha, that sux.

I tried my HD 1/2" drive impact but it wouldn't buge either one and I was afraid to keep hammering for fear of rounding off the head of the bolt, they probably used a 3/4 drive impact at Firestone on yours, if I keep this up I may have to invest in one of them.
