Yea, but it's a completely different engine. The Gen ll 5.7 has all different parts internally, and externally. Our engines are the Gen lll, which is the 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 (aluminum LS1) and 6.0 If you bore out the 5.3 iron block to an iron 5.7, you can swap all the stuff from the ls1 5.7 into them. I believe they have factory forged rods and the good stuff? It's fun to do a search on the Gen lll v-8's and see how tough they really are...6 bolt mains!!!

Not sure about them having factory forged internals but they are all very versatile!

I was under the impression that 5.7 pistons were a different weight than 5.3s and thus the cranks were balanced differently. I am contemplating doing this build also but that was a concern I had.
Farmtruc, could you chime in on this? What pistons do you recommend for a daily driver/camper hauler? My build would include a Vincy 080 cam. The engine is a 2000, would the stock heads suffice? I have some 918 springs for the bigger cam.

Crank balance for different pistons is taken care of when you
take everything up to be balanced.
Highly recommend you take balancer and flex plate or flywheel to
be balanced with all of it too.
