Nice. Great platform to build from--except it is a V6 truck--much more will be needed to do the V8 swap. Good luck with it all.
P.S. I know someone who has a 5.3L that would be a good motor to put in there for cheap. :)
lol, no thats the only one she doesnt care that I have
Me and you think alike
Yeah I would love for it to have a v8 but at the price he is selling I think it will equal out, I really want to 6.0l it but working on a 5.3 if its still there Friday. Just gonna take awhile for me to piece all the stuff together. For one I am a complete newb when it comes to motors, even more so of a newb for swaps. So I havent the first clue as to what all is involved but have done some reading on the board and it looks like the swap itself isnt too horrible, just gonna be more an issue of me knowing what all I need for the motor to complete it.
You also have a PM sir.
good luck on the project
PM replied. Yeah, a 6.0L would scream in that truck, but I am biased towards a 5.3L.
There are a few things involved...motor mounts, harness--but really isn't bad. I am sure there are a few local H-town guys that could help out. If not, I have a sister in Sugarland that I visit every now and then--I could swing by and help if needed.
Seems like I remember you mentioning this in another thread. Glad to see you followed through with it! :greg:
I thought it was a fairly straight forward swap. Only thing I did wrong was I had the motor mounts from a 4wd and I needed 2wd mounts. I took the front end off the truck and put the motor and tranny in all at once. I used the stock 5 speed that came in the truck. The exhaust even bolted up from the 4.3. Only needed some little things like a couple foot of flex fuel line, radiator hoses, and an intake tube. My motor came with the wire harness all hooked up including the pcm, so I just dropped it in and hooked up a few wires. Good luck with your swap. Let me know if I can help any.
5.3L it is! :woot1:
