Welcome. If you have a factory trans cooler then im sure it runs through your radiator first. Thats how mine is set up.
I have a Tru Cool 28,000 GVW trans cooler with out bypass.
But Tru cool are supposed to have one [ kind of ] built in it, passageways that send the cold thicker fluid out quicker.
My temps says lower than what I would like. Rarely getting up to 180 o. In winter I cover the cooler with aluminum foil and cardboard and the temp gets up to about 130 o. This is driving around town. I have it hooked up to the engine radiator like you are supposed to.
Hope this helps.
Your in North Dakota....we are in kansas. We may not have the problem of temps like you had.
I'm wondering if just going with the bypass wouldn't be the safer route. It's only like $30 difference. Just trying to learn the pros and cons of it I guess. Never dealt with tranny coolers before so thanks for all the input guys.
So the final questions is....do I need a 40k or just go with a smaller one like a 28k? :)
Boy thats weird ,I cant believe ive never heard of such a thing,a bypass in the cooler?wtf will they think of next,?Im goin y is this guy asking about a trans cooler and a throttle body bypass?lol.what a nerd.lol.jokes on me.I guess you learn somethin new everyday.I thought i was pretty knowledgeable.so y do these passages only work when the fluid is cold ?Enlightin me.
