56 sounds awful low, shouldn't it be about 300 psi? up to 171 in D and up to 300+ in reverse.

yea that sounds low
1st and reverse are the highest pressure...and the least common failure.
your right every time i had one go out i lost everything but 1st and rev and then rev would go and 1st would barly be there and thin it would go thin the converter would go
Sorry for the bad info then......I dont really know what the line pressure is suppose to be. I just remember the builder telling me that the recommended was only like 28 and that mine was at 56.....that was a long time ago though, its very likely that I misunderstood him or forgot what he said. Those numbers were just stuck in my head, maybe it was 280 and 560? So far it seems like the 3 washers at the accumulator could be my best chance. I will look up the recommended line pressure and have my builder guage it to make sure it is within spec.
i still think you should just do the 4l80 swap
I completely agree actually.......I really regret not doing that in first place. But my warranty is actually up on the tranny and he offered to do this one last build for free so I have to let him try. I basically got screwed over.....after the third tranny I demanded that he upgraded to a 4l80e but he refused. Now my only option is either let him try one more time, or take him to small claims and drag out this process. So after this one fails I will deffenintly swap in the 4l80e. You guys think a stock with a shift kit will do the trick.....or should I spend the extra money and get a finishline or something of that nature? Could you guys also give advice on a good conversion kit for the 4l80e?
A stock 80 with a shift kit should be good for at least 700rwhp. They are tough but you'll lose some power since it is a beefier trans. Some claim up to a 30rwhp loss. But the plus side is you can make a lot more HP and not have to worry about it. There is a sticky on here for what you need to do the conversion. A Transgo shift kit should do the trick.
yea i would say take it to some one els not bashin your guy or anything but he got it wrong that many times
