I'm leaning towards ls6 cam since i have one readily available for less than $100, but finding cheap ls6 springs seems to be the problem.
What kind of gains does an ls1 cam have over a 5.3? I have no idea how cams work...

you can get zo6 yellows on ebay for 50 bucks and i don think the ls1 is as much of a gain but the ls6 is alil higher
the cheapest i usually see the ls6 springs go is $80-$100 on ebay.
Are all ls6 springs yellow? there is a set for sale on ebay now, it says they are oem, but they're not yellow and they're in a comp cams box. I don't want to get ripped off and have them be stock ls1 springs, ya know?
go to sdparts.com and buy a set for $60.

Welcome to the site. You are our second member to have the 5.3L/T-56 combo in a 240. You and MunsonAuto (Tanner) should talk.
Man, don't listen to those guys over there. The LS6 cam and yellow springs would be fine. But hey--if you are doing a cam--why not get something bad arse now? Why waste the time on a cam install and do a small one?????
We have community dual valve spring compression tools we share. It takes not time to change out springs...
