Help Identify My Rear, lol

Well I drove to the shop and they had a posi made by Dana/Spicer for my Dana Super 44. But when they removed the inside(I think they call it a carrier) it had holes for bigger axles than a standard Super 44. So I am back to square one. I took some pics of the internal parts but don't know how to post the pics online as they are on my phone. :help:

its not a Dana44...

From what i can tell (without actual measurements) its a Dana30 rear. There are a few 'models' of dana30's but basically need to know if is an 30HD or just a 30 (count the axle splines)

This thing is definitely not stock to this truck, its been shoehorned it by someone.

I counted the ridges and valleys and got 32 ten times. I read they should be 30 for a Dana 44 and 33 for a Dana Super 44 but I only got 32.

I solved the problem though. I bought a 14 bolt out of a 2006 2wd Silverado SS and it already has a factory Posi and they same 3.73 gears I already had. I might go to 4.10's and a TruTrac later.

The guy that sold me the differential said I might have to have my driveshaft shortened because the 14 bolt was bigger but that the leafs and shock mounts were the same. Also, the disk brakes from my diff need to get swapped to the 14 bolt because it came with drum brakes.

I got tired of looking for a Posi for the diff I had and I got a good deal on the 14 bolt so I could not resist. I had been reading, looking and calling around for months now so I finally gave in.

Actually it's disc but disk is better than what was there :LOL:

first the 14bolt doesnt have a posi unless its a TBSS rear. second the rear has a torquelok same as the 10bolts do. third from my experience with this rear the pinion angle is going to be more postive then your truck now is, so you might need shims to correct the angle. Fourth i didnt have to shortend the DS at all i just needed to find the right spicer Ujoint to fit.

last why change out hte dana? is it broke? if aint broke dont fix

I would've thrown a 10bolt back in before anything lol, welded center section, Mosier axles, Detroit true track, billet yoke and a nice aluminum rear cover with the main cap braces would be more than enough IMO. but $$$$$$$$$$$$ lol

I had to shorten my driveshaft, the pinion is longer on the 14 bolt than the 10 bolt and sticks out further from the axle centerline than the 10 bolt did. I also had to put conversion bearing for the 1350 ujoint flange it uses.
