haha im sorry George im so confused as to what your referring to NA as. read the sentence and make sure im just not dumb lol

oh right right I get it
George...why can't I build a motor for boost but run a solid N/A cam until I get the money for boost? There is no such thing as an overall solid motor that can run either way with a swap of a couple parts??? Like a different set of heads and a cam for instance?
I would totally go with forged internals I just don't know where to get them...also who to go with.
I want around 450 to the wheels. I'm pretty sure that I could attain that on a N/A motor as well.
But hey if I can't do both on one motor then screw it I'll to with a nice amount of spray.
most boosted motors are 8.5 to 9.0 which makes for a dog NA. now you could build it 9.5-10 but wont run as much boost safely on 93 octane.
any decent cam likes compression, so lack of compression is goign to make the NA cam doggy. flow of heads, intake and internals arent that big of deal, just how the compression and cam choice thats all.
What about domes vs. dishes pistons? Swapping between them would bump up or lower compression correct??
What about boost on 10:1 with high octane? Maybe 8-10lbs??
you can change pistons yes but that is rebuilding a motor honestly. so you spent money twice
10psi on a built motor? id much rather run more tell you the truth. hell i run 18 on stock motor
10 is an average motor to run in both directions. theres ppl running good bit of boost with 10.1 cr just would have to run good gas.
10.1 is little low for big cams but ls1s do it and work well. Just for me if i was building a NA it would be 11.1 to 11.8 cr
for me a boost motor 8.5-9.2
I know ideally I want around 11.5:1 compression...but with 10:1 would I still be able to make a decent amount of power with the right cam/head combo?
Then swap cams and boost it and still run like 10-15lbs of boost? When its boosted Im not looking for any land speed records or HUGE hp numbers...somewhere in the 600-700 range...I just wanna be able to toy around with it and run down some sports cars....
Is this doable at all?
Oh and I never got an answer...how much higher or lower compression could you possibly get by JUST swapping between domed or dished pistons?
