how much stall?

Are you still wondering about a stall?


I went through 3 to find mine, Hell those were my only choice, stock-2200-2500, 2200 works great for the street the 2500 wouldnt lock up untill 3500 trying to take off and cruise, its hard to run 3500 rpms down the freeway, you would need 4:56's or a 3 speed tranny and 3:73's

Yep, that's the one I'm referring to. But it's not the dealer that has the burden, it's the manufacturer of the product.

so would a 2800-3000 be too much? im not building a drag truck or anything. I will be driving it a lot. but I want it to launch good at the track also.

I have a yank 3600 and drive it alot. I havent had any problems with it.

my 3000 worked nicely and is still being used, by someone else on here im upgrading to a 3600 but thats due to the cam and stuff i think you'd be happy with a 3000.

While on the subject of 4L80E's.......I have a '93 stepside, I am getting ready to replace the 350/5 speed with new driveline....thinking LS2/LS3 crate w/ 4L80E.... there are a lot of different combos with the 80 trans., what year trans would work the best when matching up to a 430 - 480 HP crate motor and what converter/stall would give best street /limited strip time ....performance???? My source for a tranny is basically salvage vehicles and being unschooled in the finer points of Auto transmissions and what matches best to what leads me to the experienced Guru's of this site!!!! Thanks

It really all depends on what your going to have for a cam, rear gears and tire size/type. A stock 4l80e will handle that kind of power no problem, just throw a Transgo Shift kit in it.
