Anyone know what the hell drive by wire is supposed to improve upon, are the engineers that damn bored? Next thing you know there'll be an audible shift control so you dont have to shift the tranny shift lever....and five more sensors that cost $50 a pop for something that wasnt necassary to begin with.
That puts traction and cruise control all into the PCM instead of being non-existent or an external module.
Was it prone to failure or inefficient before?
Cable driven traction control was a nightmare on the Fbody vehicles.
ok here we go. lol. got another TAC module and put in. Throttle works fine and getting no codes back from diagnostic.
But..... still no spark and no brooom broooom.
So now here's the break down. Good ground and power through pcm and engine. No codes returning back to pcm. Engine cranks fine. Called Jon at nelson and verified that was all the ground wires in harness and all is well. Coils are getting power and ground.
What's the chances of all 8 coils being bad? (I know with my luck its possible but....)
Any ideas??
I just can't wait to slap that ls1truck.com sticker on the back window. Its not on till I can drive it. lol.
Have you tried a noid test light on the injectors? If the engine sat for a length of time with no fuel in the fuel rails the injectors could be stuck. Take them out and turn them upside down and knock them solidly on a board to get the pintle moving. Are the spark plugs wet or fouled?
Also, have you tried replacing the cam and crank sensors with know good ones. Also check continuity through the wires to both sensors back to the PCM connectors.
Ask Anthony or Jonathen which wires go to which connector and verify the pins are in the right locations through both connectors.
The VIN in the TAC module and in the PCM must match...and the BCM must agree there's no attempt at theft for it to start. I'm pretty sure the TAC is not TIS programmable (it's plug and play), but if it's from a different year than the PCM, you'll have trouble as stated above.
I think I have a TAC module from a 2005? model but the truck was hit by lightening so I'm not sure it's worth a crap.

we tested for either ground or 12v at anything coil related, and we received either at any given point. plugs are new.
when we test the pins on the computer, we were able to get a positive voltage or ground confirmation, through all pins, with the exception of the following:
C2 Pin 59 Crank voltage
C1 Pin 12 CKP sensor signal
C1 Pin 39 Starter enable relay control
whether the key was in run, start or off, nothing shown up at these pins.
We kinda thought maybe it was the crank sensor but we arent sure whether voltage should be there or even if it should show a strong ground at this point. so my question to anyone looking, should there be a positive or ground at these pins?
with it getting fuel when cranked, this tells me the computer is functioning, by there being no codes, apparently the computer senses no faulty sensors, kinda like between the computer and coil, something isnt triggering the coils, surely its not the wires, as the wiring involved (new) came in the new harness.
anyone have a slick way to test a coil pack to see if you can get spark at the plug, with the coil pack outside the vehicle?
CKP - With the ignition on the light green wire should have 12 volts. If it was a bad sensor you'd think you'd be hitting a DTC. This sucks!!
