When you installed the cam, did you remove the oil pump to install a new timing chain? There's an O-ring on the pickup tube that could bleed oil pressure if it's not located properly.
When you installed the valve springs, did you replace the valve guide seals? Worn seals could cause oil consumption. You would notice it the most in high-vacuum situations (idling, deceleration, etc).

well taking it back apart to properly seat the seals on the valves. And i HAVE oil pressure, its just bouncing around on the gauge on the high end.... i need to get an aeroforce gauge so i can see whats going on.
EDIT: and yes i still have the O-ring or w/e is on there, i have a first year 5.3L so its not gonna be the exact same as you late model guys

If the gauge is acting goofy and there is no engine noise while it's acting goofy, the oil sender behind the intake manifold could be at fault.

I'm going with replace oil sender.

thats what my plugs looked like after pulling them out tonight, a couple seem very oily, and even then the truck seems like it might be running lean? plugs are awful white on a couple....time for an A/F gage i believe.
So im also going to just replace the oil pump and sender unit, instead of chancing it. This weekend should be fun :).
If anyone in the MN wants to come help, lunch is on me yet again!

Valve seals were definately not seated properly...
Dumb friends always trying to help...
Well half were on just a bit, about 3/8" space between the seat and the seal.... so i seated them back on with a 3/8 long well socket, and half including #4 (which was the bad plug) the intake valve seal wasnt even on, just sittin above, hangin out, along with most of the exhaust valve seals.
So tomorrow im gonna get it back together, got some generic crap plugs for testing, and also the threads on the drivers side plug 3 and 5 first thread looks damaged, crappy....my fault for using the cheap valve tool insert for the air compressor.
Other than that, maybe this will solve most of my problems???? gonna try a new PCV valve as well right away.

yeah, what Jeff said. You can replace the oil pump fairly easy...just don't forget to take the shop towel out of the front of the pan before you test drive it........................
And also what he said about the lifters, your #7 lifters get the oil first, if your oil pump blowing low pressure/aerated oil those lifters will die first. Makes a terrible sound at the closest part of the engine to the driver as well.

well took everything apart, and put it back together, changed oil and filter, new plugs. Everything started fine, except i forgot to plug in MAF so it kept dying.
Oil pressure moves with rpm right away now, seeing 40 at idle.
Still have a slightly loud tick on pass side. Gonna take off valve covers and retourque everything tomorrow, and get a bolt out and see if i can get that end bolt out of the head so i can actually put a new one back into the header.
Other than that the FPR was not leakin fuel, i took off the vacuum line and started the truck and it ran fine, with no gas coming out.
