I own a whipple and I wasted 5000 dollars on it. TOO much heat and it and wayyyy to expensive to to cool it off. The radix installs in a few hours. The whipple a lot longer. If I had it to do over. I would go for the Radiz as my first choice and 2nd choice would be a front mount turbo.
Intercolling is a must and I mean water to air or air to air. If no intercooler leave it on the shelf.
yea i was thinking about patriot ls6 heads w/ 59 cc combustion chambers, a ls6 cam, a few other bolt ons, including headers and maybe a ls6 intake.
I am keepin the 4.8 in my truck. whenI build the reg cab up Ill probably get a 6.0 or a ls2. 4.8 has 285hp/ 295tq 6.0 has like 365hp stock. Like the old saying '' there is no replacement for displacement. ''
the 4.8 can make just as much HP as a 5.3, it will just be down on TQ, and you can fix that with some gear and converter.
If you wanting to do a full rebuild on the engine, id start with atleast a 6.0L, they are fairly cheap and plentiful, but if you just want some bolt ons and cam and head type deal, then the 4.8 can get the job done, its been proven time and time again.
best thing to do is figure out what your ultimate goals are for the truck, and then make a decision on the engine.
Ditto,
Like everyone says... if your thinking about possibly going to a 6.0L eventually stick with basic bolt ons and a decent cam for your 4.8L.. that way if you do get a 6 liter you can bolt every bolt on mod on over that you've gotten for your little 4.8
I am waiting on the dot in between my 4 and 8 to grow into a 0.
