I noticed a huge differance with my long tube install, I thought I would loose a ton of low-end, but i barely noticed. Now as for the top-end, Holy s***, once it wraps over 3k it pulls so freakin hard, I love my long tubes!!!!!:melissa:
What gears do you have? 3.42's? What rear end? Open? G80? If you throw in anything else (LT's or stall), you will spin, spin, spin in that RCSB 5.3... The least you could do is throw in an Auburn/Eaton unit--or a Detroit Tru-Trac. And while yu are back there, put some 3.73's in as well--if you don't already have them...
I plan on doing a G80 4.10 Z71 rearend
If you plan on using the truck for any kind of performance usage don't do a G80. The case is very weak on the G80 and will eventually break and destroy itself and the gears, possibly the transmission, too.
well I beat the truck pretty hard, what would you suggest? I have not had good experiance with limited slips they never seem to hold good in a heavy truck I always end up spining the inside tire in turns. Exspecialy right turns.
I would really perfer a locker but the detroit is like $600 Then I still need gears and install kit
I just put an Eaton posi in mine and reused my stock gears. It's done an amazing job so far. You can get one brand new off Ebay for about $380.
I've been using Auburn limited slips without issues. The diff, when locked, will spin the inside tire at the same rate as the outside tire during a turn. The shifting weight of the truck will reduce the weight on the inside tire and make it easy to spin the tire, making you think you're losing traction when in fact the outside tire is pulling the truck around the turn. During the turn the outer tire has a greater distance to travel and better traction, this will make the inside tire slip and squeel but you're still accelerating. Want to know if you're getting traction to both wheels? Stick it in a mud hole or loose dirt and see if you spin both tires. If not you have a bad diff.
