4l60e trouble

Buy a transmission cooler. Get as large of a cooler as you can fit in the truck.

ok well i have the trans apart the first band did a number on the shell idk if i can machine it or what but the first clucth pack is smoked bad the second isnt so bad i will post some picks soon but iam wondering what caused my truck to stop shifting out of first?

Probably is related to the band being smoked. Replace the band and all the clutches and steels. Don't do it half-assed. Don't machine the drum. You can get a new or remanned reverse drum for not too much money. Without the band you have no 1-2 shift.
