would that work and the turbo?
Your parents will get over it, hehe just like mine did. At first they told me no, and no again. but me being me i still did it. They were kinda pissed off at first, but then they saw how much i liked fixing my truck to go faster and that made me happy so they haven't told me anything so far, only when i break parts because of racing, lol. Just let them see that you are responsable and can control your self driving a fast truck. BTW, if you swap the motors i guarntee you won't sell the truck. This guy offered my $25,000 for my truck, and i can't belive i told him no!!
I just cant go against my dad like that.....Hes supported me my whole life and is paying or my college, insurance, rent, hell everything....
I mean I can wait for a V8....Ill just keep moving along with the 6'er
I dont know where to start...What all can I do besides Turbo and Nos?
I know a cam wont do much at all,
What else? Bigger injectors?
My parents support me also... If you stay with the v6, spray it like Red said!!! Don't you already have the engine and everything to install it??
im in the same boat. ive waited a year to get the kinks out from the v6 to v8 swap and at first my parents hated it. over time i wore them down and they know im gonna do what im gonna do anyways. i had a friend like u who's parents were kind of demanding and he now owns an SS haha. id tell ur parents i can do 100 in a v6 just like the v8 it just takes longer and the longer it takes the better chance something bad will happen. i still live with my parents so i mean they do alot for me but now that i have the v8 my dads first quote was "hey those black marks across belton dam, yeah those r from me...". after i told him i raced someone he didnt frown he perked up and asked "did u win?!" my dad is cool tho and all my friends love him so i mean he's just like one of us. sadly none of their parents are like that very much. id say bug the hell out of him till in a fit of anger he says those words uve been waiting to hear "whatever, u wanna kill urself fine!" then do the swap. :hshake:
4 year college degree - $80,000.00
6.0 swap - $2000.00
Working at Wal Mart for $7.00 an hour - PRICELESS
I say upgrade the V6 and keep dad happy.
Does Dad drive a Honda?
F man. That sucks. I know exactly where you are coming from. My dad (and mom) paid for all of my vehicles until I was 24, paid for school, books, rent, bills, etc. And my dad was a hard ass to boot. Just be lucky that you weren't dumb enough to total your truck when you were drunk--after being at college for two months... Even after that stint, he still bought me my other trucks. Listen to your dad...eventhough you may not agree with him now, later on you will look back on it and see where he was coming from and realize that he was right...
I wanted to modify my trucks in the past, but I knew that I'd ruin a good thing (relationship with parents) if I did. So I held off until I was on my own. Hell, even now when I go back to my parent's house and show my dad what I have been up to, he still thinks I am wasting my money. He's has been in the automotive industry working as a Regional Manager for 35 some-odd years now--has worked with the Chrysler Corp, Mazda, and now with Honda. He has raced with Skip Barber, done a few rounds with the SCCA when he was at Mazda (at Leguna Seca), has modded his own vehicles in the past, curently has a project 69 Bronco 4X4 (with the 302), etc. Even with all of that said, he STILL thinks I am wasting my money...
IHMO, you will need to keep most of your performance mods at bay until you finish college. You may get away with doing a rear-mount turbo kit--so that if your dad looks under the hood, he will only see 6 cylinders and some weird intake and exhaust plumbing--just tell him it is intake and exhaust work---which it truely is! That way you could be one of the few guys with the V-6 turbo, have some decent power, and not lie to your dad. The latter being the most important.
Why did he mention the V-8 swap? Maybe he is a new member here and has been reading up on your posts...
I KNOW A FRONT MOUNT WILL FIT ON THAT BAD BOY. IT MAY NOT BE A 11 SECOND TRUCK, BUT FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT YOU WILL SURPRISE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH A V6.
SORRY ABOUT THE NEWS, BUT YOUR DAD HAS A POINT. YOU ARE YOUNG, YOU CAN DO THAT STUFF LATER IN LIFE. I WOULD LET HIM PAY FOR AS MUCH AS HE CAN. I DIDN'T HAVE THAT LUXURY WHEN GOING TO SCHOOL. IT TOOK ME 5 1/2 YEARS TO GET OUT, PAYING FOR IT MYSELF. RELAX AND ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE IT COULD BE WORSE. TRY WORKING 45HRS A WEEK AND TAKING A FULL LOAD A SCHOOL. SOME NIGHTS I DIDN'T SLEEP. IT HAS PAID OFF SO FAR.

He's not your real dad, don't listen to him.
