I think what it comes down to is a NA engine makes its torque peek high in the RPM range you need higher numerically gears to keep it in this range. With a turbo you make a broad flat torque curve when under boost so you load the engine with numerically lower gears to force the turbo into boost. In other words you are cruising along with no load and no boost, but you put a trailer or climb a hill you start making boost and thus more torque.

OK then I'll try to take the truck to SAR for the retune this friday or the next with my current setup (3:42) then when I get the new rearend which will be 4:10 we'll see what happens and if its better I'll keep it that way if not I'll go back to lower numerically gears.

I don't remember the exact setup, but Allen already proved this in the old truck with the STS.

So, would it be better to reprogram the PCM to lower the shift points since the power is down low instead of up high?

It's ok just get 4.11's.
