Too Low?

Ducky, truck does look good---will be even better once the swap is done and you put those 17&#39;s with low-profile tires on&#33;&#33;&#33; I am not knocking people who have lowered their trucks (I&#39;ve got the 2" leveling shackles), but didn&#39;t you kinda know that you would scrape stuff when you went that low in the first place? You thinking of going back to a 2/4 drop once the performance comes?

Yeha im pretty stoked about the 17&#39;s. Yeah I figured I would scrape on just about everything. As far as the 2/4 goes, i don&#39;t really know if I&#39;ll bring it back up. If I start running into problems I might, but I guess I&#39;ll see how it goes once I start to really get going with the mods.

I wonder what the advantages/disadvantages of being this low and having alot of HP would be?

Well, one advantage I would see from it being low is wind drag. You have a little bit less drag coefficient being that low--not a lot of air going underneath. :thumb: Another advantage---You also have a lower center of gravity which helps in the handling dept.---and maybe with your launch from a dig...

How much extra does the new motor weigh? Enough to cause stress on the front end drop? Enough for the front end to bounce more over bumps?

Disadvantage: And when you get the go-fast goodies, you WILL be going fast--and that could translate into you not braking in time to avoid crappy roads--or speed bumps... :eek:

Being that low shouldn&#39;t hurt the driveline---as long as everything is balanced and aligned correctly...

i dont think weight would have TOO much effect on it.. maybe 100 pounds heavier or so, I&#39;m not really sure.

well once I get the 17s with some better tires, meaning a little lower profile, i wont worry about it rubbing on the top of my fenderwell. Thats the only thing that bothers me.

I might later on bring it up to like a 3/5, but who knows..

I never scrape when im driving, its usually only pulling into steep parking lots, or speed bumps. I wish I could find some stiff ass shocks.

Once you get everything put on, you will start to find out what works and what doesn&#39;t work... Learning the hard way is the best way, but not always the friendliest way...

I did, she mentioned your dad, but she said if I didnt want any mistakes I&#39;d better not go through him...

but yeah, Ill just have to do trial and error with the lowering kit and the 5.3 once the mods come.
