It never proves anything, the title said "why not more 454's" didn't say more LSx-454's
like I said LS engins are bad ***, but to go against a RAT is suicide..
Even same cubic inch, the BB heads flow more...for every LS head you find that flows 330 cfm, there is a RAT head that flows 380 CFM..
EVERYONE knows head flow is what makes real HP when mods are added.
head flow is the base of power, it's why LS engines kill the old School SBC engines or one reason..
Even a 396 Chevy with 380 cfm flowing heads will kill a LSX 408 with 330 cfm heads if both have some cam, induction compression etc..
Comparing a AFTERMARKET Block LS engine (454) to a production block is not too equal either..
I can't think of any standard production engine out there that is made now that matches or beats the LS engines for power vs others via N/A vs N/A or boosted vs boosted.. , but dig into the past, and the Big Blocks with modern tech heads and roller cams rule all..
Nothing that is made now or in the past 20 years can top those big blocks with modern high tech parts on them... nothing... unless you compares a new boosted engine to one of them non boosted.
These people who get on the net and brag about a Supra or Skyline engine with 1500 hp... with a Trillion tons of boost.. a (pro built) BBC can get 2500 hp with a quarter the boost of those.
This is a good debate, but look at the fastest street cars, fastest drag cars.. all RAT powered!!!
FYI, There is LS heads that flow 400+ cfm now... What was this topic about again? You BB guys are not talking me into putting a BB in my ride... I enjoy the fact that I could get 15-18mpg and still put down 800-900 whp...
Since this seems to be dying down now Ill just say I havent contributed anything to the discussion but have been following it definitely learned a lot. :D
