5.3L (LM7) into OBS Silverado

Hey badc10 what is this bottle your talking about? The overflow? My steam line connects to both heads at the front and rear and has a single exit line that I connected to the tank of my radiator about 4" below the filler cap.

My son has a self-push scooter & a tricycle. Wants to be right near dad. That&#39;s a great thing, but he&#39;s a bit too young to turn a wrench. As for the steam line, that is the metal tube under the intake. I am thinking about pulling that tube to blast compressed air thru it. That idea was mentioned by a guy I know here locally. This&#39;ll be the next step cuz I swapped the sensors, and got the same result. I really hop I don&#39;t have to pull the head. Pains me cuz I&#39;m so close to being complete&#33; :sad:

If the autometer gauge is placed in the same place as the factory sensor and you get a different reading, I would suspect something else is wrong, not the head. Check the voltage at the sensor. It sounds like a defect of another sort if the autometer gauge shows good temps.

Went to play a bit further. Ran the truck in park while in driveway. Temp began creeping up to 230*. Turned truck off, and started feeling the radiator. Skeptical that something could be wrong with that, I found that from mid-way toward the bottom of the radiator was kinda luke warm. From mid-way toward the top was hot as a m*********. :eek:

Could it be that my problem lie in a radiator? Guess I&#39;ll find out when I pull it tomorrow. :cool:

Well the rad. should be hotter at the top than the bottom right? Or maybe it&#39;s the other way around, I can&#39;t remember. But as it flows through the radiator it will cool off, to luke warm, I don&#39;t know if it should be that cool.

I&#39;m getting so many different possibilities. May as well just eliminate it for peace of mind... <--- saying that a lot today. :)

it might be the waterpump, so check the waterpump and the rad hoses

Seems I have the wrong steam line setup. Apparently, GM changed the design, and the guy that sold me the motor put the wrong line on. There&#39;s a steam line connecting the two heads at the front of the motor (with the exit to the radiator). This same piece is supposed to branch off toward the back of the motor, and bolt to the heads at the back of the motor. What I have seems to be two plugs bolted to close the holes.

Now, I have to wait on the guy to bring me the right part. May be getting finished by mid-July.

Sounds like he converted it over to the LS6 style steam crossover setup. I am running that also. My 98 came stock with the 4 corner steam pipe and I changed it to the LS6 valley/vent and LS6 steam setup and don&#39;t have problems with it. This was done in anticipation of finding an LS6 intake cheap, the early steam crossover won&#39;t clear the LS6 intakes. Again, what year engine is it that you&#39;ve installed?

I was told it was from an &#39;00 or &#39;01. Asked the guy I bought it from, but he can&#39;t remember... one of those "friend of a friend" deals. Guy&#39;s cool and all, I&#39;m just dying to get in this thing and start some in depth tuning.

I told him what I was seeing, and he said right off what I needed. Knowledgeable guy... should be, considering he was a GM tech for years.

If your transmission sits too high in the rear the air bubbles would not float to the front air/steam bleed holes. I am not sure what angle it&#39;s supposed to be on but parking on a hill with the nose up would help to bleed air out.
