Congrats. Why such a small cam?
ya...that cam seems smallllllllllllllllllll
edit: Just for conversations sake...he currently has a 226/230 .598/.600 112 in his 6.0, which is super mild
suggestions?
Rex spec'd that cam
actually
-Richard at WCCH spec'd it
-224/228 .560 lift 112 LSA
226/230 .598/.600 112 +4 is my current cam
id take suggestions. it has to be something to make power, of course, why else build the 408.. however.. its gotta be streatable also since its my DD..
what size torque converter you plan on running? you mention 9.9-12.1 cr? which one is it? plans for boost later on? maybe thats why the small spec'd cam?
yes procharger later.. 2800 TC
IMO.... procharger won't be for a couple years....
you have a 2 piece timing cover... why not just change the cam when you get the procharger?
No need to pull heads to change the cam. Go big or go home lol
never said i was msart guys LOL
i thought you had to pull the heads to change the cam?
told ya im a dummy LOL, and im not afraid to show my dumbness.
oh sweetness. see i learn a little something every day
yay first wave of parts that I have here are on thier way to Rex!
oil pump, ls2 timing chain set w\gears and bolts, rockers and pedestals.
226/236 .610/.620 113 LSA
is that better??
I'd get a for sure plan of exactly what you want, and get one spec'd.
Better but I would go bigger. I'm going 226/230 in my 5.3 lol
if youre gonna change it out later anyways id go for a pretty aggressive cam man.
Look up a polluter by tickperformance. That's big in a 347 (ls1) and that's what I'm running in my ls1. Look at it's specs and judge for yourself what agressive would be in a 408..... If u plan to get boost later don't buy a custom spec for this stage in it's life. They are a p.I.t.a. To resell
MS3 237/242 .603 .609 112 Buddy has one in a m6 ls1 camaro and it goes hard.
I wouldn't use the RPM crank, I have no personal experience with them but the people that I know that do say they are junk...
my cam is already in place, but my pistons are on a 6 week back order
ya know me. i havent heard good nor bad until this... so.. if anyone can offer documented fails on the RPM stuff, id really appreciate the input.
Ok
Talked to Rex last night. Pistons are on order, and he was able to pull some strings to reduce the 6 week wait time.
Also, my heads and lifters are being shipped to Rex today. (thanks Andrew)
Looks nice amigo
yeah andrew did 99% of the work as i was crippled.. damned back of mine...
only complaint is where it sits, you cant see the full guage.. but it cool anyway
thanks!
just talked to rex.. probe pistons are out.. forged weisco's are going in now..
alittle advice if you plan to boost later then build it for boost, who gives a flip if your cam is to small or you need a larger cam. rex is gonna set it up for boost if thats what you told him, run what he reccomends he wouldnt offer it if it wasnt right!!!.. simple fact big cam little compression doesnt go together ;)
by the way TEA makes a badass set of heads!! nice choice!!
you want big then go 25x/26x in a 408 ;) just kidding thats the size i run :)
ok
there is a POSSIBILITY the 408 is not gonna happen now.. the transmission in the SS is not working properly.. not shifting outta 1st until 4500 rpm.. under load its not shifting ,etc
thanks to shifty.. we have a couple choices... a local joint here is gonna look it over tomorrow.. UGH.. NOT NOW..
SS is home .. ugh. .expensive bill.. but once again.. all in perfect order..
i might put a fan on the tranny cooler blowing inward... just gotta find one.
Pistons are in!

Good choice on piston manufacturers. I really like their low tension rings, just hope mine finally seal one day.
