after blowing the 2nd 60e with only 18k miles on my 08'....time to upgrade.
im going by Allens and Red Heartbeats threads on the how to's.....:thanks:
headed to S.A in the a.m for the yoke and Nelson 80e conversion harness
everything is off....just need to order converter circle D ;)

no Need for a harness, just follow Redheartbeats repinning instructions.
the pins are a pita!!! so triple check the pins to make sure they are all showing and flush with the connector, sometimes they pull out and aren't seated, so they never make contact with the tcm.
damm thats where im gonna get stuck lol,i just wanted to plug and play.hmm if i cant get it either way once buttoned up it'll be headed your way bro.
on his thread it says add a vss connector?
Get Allen to send you a pre-programmed TCM, that will be so much easier for you.

this sucks there sendin me a 6L90E....now im really stuck lol i dont know what to do now i already have all the parts for a 4L80e swap :/....im thinking the 6L90Eswap is gonna be too much more mods? ide like a 6 speed but ive got 4.56'''may have to take them out i bet if i were to go that route.damm guys had it listed as a 4l80e out of a 08' 2500hd....and well i thought the 6speed came out in 09':(
either transmission will be badass. If you already got the 80e converter, that'll be the deal break, i know those things are pricey.
now im reading Keniffs thread on pt.net lol damm...sometimes this hobby will give u headache...anyways converter is cancelled for now..now all these parts mite have to swap em for 6l90 parts....im on hold for now till i find out exactly whats all needed for the 6speed swap. i know 4.56 and 6spd gonna be too much.i called all of s.a and no one has a low milege 80e...this 6l90e has 18 k miles
4.56's and the 6 speed will be great if you can hook.
How did that happen, getting a 6l90e instead of a 4l80e
i looked up a trans online for 2008 silverado 2500 hd,,me not knowing that they did away with the 4l80e in 07'classic was the last year...when i was ordering parts for a 2008 2500 hd at the dealership the salesman kept telling me they didnt show a 2008+4l80e...thats when i found out...im gonne keep doing research on this...if not i know some willing to trade for a 80e.
Zach, if you can make it work, keep the 6 speed.
man do the 6l90e it will be great with the 4:56 gear ration
yea im gonna do the 6L90e afterall.i already got it so i have no choice.i got lucky it came with a stock converter for now.i just gotta go to vara and exchange the 80e parts for 6l90 like flywheel etc...ill get it all bolted up ...then leave it with you guys...for the tuning and electrical part..i hate electrical..thanks

A buddy of mine had a 6speed with a cammed 6.2 and that bish pulled like a mofo. And it was still on a very conserative tune! Oh he had 3.73's.
well i got a 09' Sierra Denali and its stock but it wraps 1st gear fast thats with 3.42s...i can only imagine WITH 4.56S LOL. we shall wait and see
How much did that 6l90 run you? That trans will be better on gas and has better gear ratios throughout than the 4l80. Please do a right up on this with plenty of pics. I am considering doing one of these swaps but Iv'e never seen it done before. When do you get started?
i will get pics of crossmember and full detail/part numbers etc ...Allen and crew will do the finishing touches and tuning on her though.i get started tomorrow..i got the trans for 1,400 shipped 18kmiles out of 08'2500hd

i still need to figure out what u-joint im going to need,ive got the yoke off the 90e..joint is way bigger than my stock one haha
,its like i need a conversion joint..if i dont find one ill let Np take care of her.

did you have to cut the exhaust?
yea i had to cut it...to get the trans out the way.

are you gonna have to get a new drive shaft? the slip yoke is is alot bigger than the 60e.
u know what man im not sure and yes the slip yoke is huge even the u-joint of course....im gonna leave that to Allen to do.hopefully he can just swap out the yoke like some guys have done

any updates is it running now, or still working on electrical ect ect...?
left it with Np...they got it all the wiring done...just waiting on my driveshaft..had to swap out the yoke and joints....then a badass tune...hopefully it will be out for the weekend...

cool im itching to see how the 4.56 and 6spd perform together, should be a beast.
truck is all done! the 6speed helps those big trucks along great, but put it in a small truck and it's even better! no converter really required, however, it needs one at idle with such a big cam.
a converter would make it shine even more through each shift.
this aint the first 6speed i realize, we've all tuned them and drove in them, however, in a regcab, it's awesome!
i'll do a complete write up on it soon, not too bad at all!!!
one bad thing about zach's swap! damn! the driveshaft broke in the center. it reached it's critical speed and with such a small diameter, 4.56 gears and 2 more gears, the shaft is spinning too fast to stay together.
i'm thinking a 4" alumin will be just right.
