1981 C10 meets 2002 6.0L V8 Help

I've recently purchased an 81 CHevy C10 aswell as an 02 Vortec 6.0L V8, complete with ECM wiring harness and 4L80E. I'm getting complicting stories on how this must work. I've been told that aslong as there is no BCM (Body Control Module) I wont have to have that portion of the ECM reprogrammed. Also I have been told that I must purchase a new wiring harness. I have the wiring harness on the 6.0 all hooked up and ready to go. I have the stock wiring harness in the 81 ready to go. Will I somehow beable to splice into the stock wiring harness from the ECM of the new engine and make it control only the engine and tranny?

Motor mounts, I have the mounting plates that attach the engine mounts to the frame, what kind of adjustments am I looking at here?

The stock wiring harness can be grafted into the 81 harness if you're very patient and can read a wiring diagram. You will need to get the Vehicle Anti-Theft(VATS) portion of the PCM disabled. Contact Allen at NelsonPerformance.com and he can reprogram a PCM for your application and tune it for your purposes including matching the PCM to your gears and tire diameter. He can also turn off the rear 02 sensor codes and any emissions equipment you've removed.

now you know its only protocol for us newbies to act retarded for the first week....and ask questions that have already been answered or addressed in previous threads :)

On mine the 4L60E fits tight in the trans tunnel. If the 4L80e is much bigger you might need to make some changes. I think you can change out the tunnel for a bigger humped one, maybe a standard or a 4x4.

if the 4l80e is to tight in the trans tunnel.Get the tranny hump out of a 2wd blazer,they are larger then the pickup,most were automatics,and they blot to the floor

I know when buying carpet there is a large tunnel and a small tunnel. Mine has the small tunnel and the 4L60e fits pretty tight. It won&#39;t lift off the mount 1/2 in. before it hits the tunnel.

just to bring this thread from the dead
on my 86, I dropped in an 06 6.0/4l80e and it fit with no problems. Only problem is the "ear" on the drivers side. If you are going to run headers, it must be cut to fit...
If you run fbody manifolds you should be fine.
My truck is a 2wd low humper :)
