Well for the past few months I have been thinking of what kind of swap I would like to do and what direction I am going in when it comes to power. I need some advice though. Here are a few options I am considering.
6.0 LQ4/4L80E
cam (not to sure what size yet)
intake/exhaust (of course)
Transmission: 4L80E
1/2,2/3 servo
Shift kit (not a crazy one)
If I were to go in this direction it would mean that I wouldnt do a forced induction of any kind for a while. My other option would be
5.3/4L60E or 65E
Front Mount with IC from Allen
cam (something that would work well with the turbo)
Injectors? (would I need to go with bigger injectors?)
Better fuel setup (Walbro. Still need to read up/understand the fuel thing)
Transmission:4L60E or 65E
Which ever transmission I decide to go with, I am definately getting a stage 5 on this from FLT.
Rearend for both choices
(4.10s, cal Tracs, and LS)
The reason I have had second thoughts about doing the 6.0 swap is the fact that after seeing that front mount on the GMC at Allens shop, and the owner of it just praising the heck out of it, I just fell in love with it. All the piping is extremely well put together, nothing seems to be in danger of something else. Its very clean and welded nice. The power he says he is making with a turbo, tune, and exhaust ONLY just makes me all giddy inside. Also the fact that if I went with a 6.0, it would not be that great of a daily driver for me. I'm not saying that all I am looking for is a good daily driver. But with me not necessarily wanting to boost the LQ4, and make it more of a N/A junkie, I just am kind of stirring away from that route. Plus the price that they were talking about for the front mount turbo is just awesome. Allen sounded extremely confident when he said after doing the test turbo on the GMC, It could take him a little over three hours to put another one on a different truck. I would love to have boost, and the price I could find a low mileage 5.3/4l60 combo is just outrageous. I mean in the forsale section there is a 5.3/4l60e combo with 8k miles on it for 1700. That is an awesome deal.
I just need some input on these ideas I have. Anything will help.
Thanks,
david

tuff decision, but imagine the power of an LQ4 with the front mount!

Did you forget the other item we threw at you.... turbo V6 :duh:
Seriously, if you have unlimited resources 6L, otherwise the 5.3 will create enough to get you into trouble..... :burnout:

If they can make 1000hp with a Supra L6 or Grand National, I wonder how much you can get out of a 4.3L.

5.3L/4L60E, Front Mount Turbo, Way to go!!!!!
Cheap, and nasty enought to put you on the high 10 sec club in a SCSB 4wd , 3.73, and some good flowing heads, big valves and a healthy cam!!!!!!!
That was what santa promise me!!!! LOL

i cant see 10 seconds with just what u've added gabe, but depends how large that front mount can go. sts could get u to 10 seconds for sure, but idk i'd go 6.0 it's one less thing you'd worry about later. be patient ducky, and ull be ok. as much as u wanna just throw it together and be done with it, ull love it if u get it done right later down the line. i could've gone 5.3 and some stuff but i went with the 6.0 and dont regret it. everyone can have a 5.3 in a rcsb, but 6.0 is custom man!

Hope I come across a good deal. So I can have money for the Turbo.
Allen, I mean to ask you if i did the lq4 or 5.3 swap on the truck and you did the Trick turbo, would there be any new fabrication that would cost extra because mine is a regcab?
