Where to place the x-pipe

Hey guys, how do you find the right spot to place an x-pipe?

I've seen some in front of the muffler's, behind them , and on a vette system, in front and back of the mufflers.

my random vote goes to .... after the mufflers.

Allen I really don't know. If you seen them in front and behind. Question are they prepackaged? I would think that the one that were premade have been test for the best preformance. I would hope. I would copy their design. Size of pipe and all should effect the preformance also. Unless you have a muffer shop and a lot of pipe to waste and dyno to test all configurations then. I would follow a major manufacture on this premade (bent) system. :twocents:

Yep before the mufflers. I have read a couple places that suggest spray painting a strip down a pipe and starting up the truck. The first place that the paint begins to bubble is where you should put the X. Never tried it but I would think it would bubble closest to the engine :duh:

Anyway, before the mufflers for sure. I put my H pipe before the mufflers.

Since the whole purpose of this is to scavenge exhaust from one bank of cylinders by using the exhaust flow from the other bank, the only logical place to put it to get the maximum effect would be after the headers and before the cats and mufflers. Just my :twocents:

Thanks guys, that helps, I'm not going to run cats right away, so before the mufflers should be no problem.

Probally the "Best" place to put it is somewhere it won't fit under the truck, like where the tranny or the crossmember is! lol! :point:
