What are the main differences in the ls1, the ls2, and the ls6? what are the factory HP ratings, and there dispalcement sise, I know the ls1 is a 5.7, and the ls2 is a 6.0, but what are the ls6's? and what cars did they come in? also is the truck 6.0 block the same as the ls2 block other than being cast iron? like can you put ls2 internals + heads on the 6.0 iron truck block? if so wouldent it have close to the same hp rating?

I believe the 6.0L truck rods are heavier. The latest LS2s have a 52 or 54 point reluctor wheel and the 6.0L truck has a 34 or so. The heads are interchangable.

The stock bottom end can handle 1000 hp. The cranks are interchangable except the 4.8L, the rest are the same except the early 6.0L have a thicker/longer flange for the flywheel. The stock pistons won't handle too much abuse since they're hyperutechnics. The 6.0L block is a great start. Buy an Eagle 4" stroker crank and forged rods and you've got a 402 with stock bore or 408 with .03" oversized bores in the 6.0L block. Buy forged pistons to go with the rotating assy and you've got one stout engine.
Once you go into one of these engines you might as well spend your money wisely and do it up correctly. You can buy all the parts to build up a nice new 408 long block for about $5500.

I know i need to start saving for my 402 or 8, but I just want to look at all my options before I dive in. The 6.0 I have is a 01 with 87k on it. I am going to put this in my own yukon. I am just going to put it in stock for now. But I was thinking that I could start buying parts and put them on as I get them. like heads, cam and a Throttle body/intake would be the first parts to buy? What's a good head for the money to run on the 6.0, and can I run it on a stock bottom end and upgrade to a stroker later and still be able to use it? I have read that not all heads are interchangable. Also I want a cam that will give me good midrange power in a 4x4 app. I will probally just save and get the heads and cam, maybe a different intake and put that stuff on and see how it goes. Then when I get enough for the bottom end I will pull it and go for a rebuild. What are people running for intakes? I looked at the FAST/Wilson intake and it's like $850
