On a stock intake there are 2 chambers. One going down tward the block another long the top by the fan. On 6.0L there're bigger than 4.8L. What do they do???
I tried tapeing them off. Drove around the block and on the Hwy... Ran like shit!!!!
NO Torque at all, and the engine was gasping for air... I did a great tapeing job...I guess the engine needs these chambers for torque???
I noticed on after-market kits they don't have these chambers... Well the Volant intakes has them.. Is the volant kit better???

I was told they were there to quite intake noise.

They don't do anything but make the intake noice quieter, i have a big ass 4" tube on mine and the whistle and air noise coming thru their is louder than the exhaust.
Something else is wrong, check your connections in that area, maybe you have an air leak after the maf,
it won't hurt performance if you remove those, we did it on my father in laws 99 and no bad results.

Yes, our lovely federal government sets federal noise and drive by guidelines for vehicles. So that's why you can barely tell they are on.
The FIPK on my F-150 sounds like a vacuum cleaner is stuck under the hood!

If you look real close you can see HOOVER! :point:

Thanks guys. It must of been an air leak. I have an AIRAID on it now. Does anyone make just the 4in. tube going from the aircleaner to the TB?
