I was at the dealership and just asked about spark plugs because ive been procrastinating changing them and he said the new ones gm recommends are the delco iradiums gaped a .040, this seems normal but under the hood it says .060, he had the right year truck and everything and even at parts stores it says .060, i dont doubt that they changed it to .040 but im just wondereing why, to take care of pinging or spark knock maybe?

We sell AC delco at the parts store where I work and it has a footnote saying the new gap is .040 and not to gap to .060

A new spark plug has been released for use in the above vehicles. The new spark plug has an Iridium tip instead of the current Platinum tip. Due to the different tip design, the gap of the spark plug has also changed. The new spark plug, P/N 12571164 with AC Delco P/N 41-985, is gapped to 1.01mm (0.040 inches) when the spark plug is made. The spark plug gap is set during manufacturing and should not be changed or damage to the spark plug may result. Any new spark plug found to not be properly gapped should not be used.

Theres not much more to say about you besides youd be god if you could get em for less than 9 a piece haha, but thanks for the info youve helped me more than once and i appriciate the inside knowledge and if you or anyone knows the p/n thatd be great so i could look around for them
