on my 04 z71 i here a thumpin noise coming from the left front it just started last week. on a smooth road and not so smooth road. need some help please. truck has a 6in lift and 32 in tires.
do i have a bad shock
bad tie rod
bad ball jt
bad bushings
i just dont know what it mite b

do you feel it in your steering wheel...if so then it's prolly your steering box...had to change mine out a couple of months ago on the '04
i can here it and sometimes feel it in the steering wheel and just found out that i lost a weight on both front tires . but the left side makes the noise
I'd bet on the steering shaft.
Hey bud I got that same knocking feeling when I roll around turns like off the highway ramps . I feel like the steering column is loose. But it doesnt give me a problem while straight driving only on slow turns while hitting little bumps in the road. Any clue? 2004 Yukon 37,000 miles
You guys have to get your intermediate steering shaft regreased. I had the same thing going on in my truck, took it in and they regreased it and it's just like new.
Hey guys gm has a bulletin on this. It is the intermediate drive shaft. All that needs to happen is to get the lube kit and lube it. It is happening on my 04 silverado. I went to the dealership and paid $15 bucks for it and the instructions were included. It does not look that hard but just time consuming. Nothing is broken it is just a poor design and has to be lubed.
This post is for those guys like me that are out of warrenty. Otherwise if you are in warrenty take it in.
