long time no see....
about got my navi sold, getting ready for a 2 month layoff at work, so hopefully get my truck fixed and very hopefully find a good ls1 somewhere
has anyone ever bought a tranny from www.phoenixhardparts.com ?
i see that they sell on ebay all the time and prices are pretty cheap and offer ext warranty and shift kits added on and all that
cant remember what i was told but is there only one 4L60E or different ones for different cars? if i were to get one would it work with an LS1 or be able to adapt it?

Never bought a trans there but i've haven't heard anything bad about them. I say go for it!!!
All of the 4l60e's on the ls1's and trucks 99 and newer are the same , basically. meaing they will bolt up to an ls1. the ls1 4l60e's have a different gear selector, like on the camaro , it's in the console. The trucks
have their selector on the side of the trans, right on the shaft that sticks out of the trans and the cable shifter hooks to.
you can adapt a camaro setup of course, but an easier method would be to get the truck selector , the selectors are the same on the previouse 4l60e's in the 98 and earlier TBI trucks,

hmmm not sure if that went over my head or if i know what you are talking about.......im not very mechanically inclined
but im guessin you are talking about in camaros whether they are stick or auto the shifter is in the console so whatever shifts the tranny is on the top of it??????

so if i were to get a tranny from that place beefed up with shift kits and all the goodies, then it will work with my 350 now and whenever i get an ls1?
or need some mods? I konw i will more than likely have to beef up the driveshaft for the xtra power of the ls1 too right so any difference in the length wont matter too im guessing
what about my rearend will i need to do anything with that? everything performance wise is stock so ive got nothing special to start out with

no problem, hahaha, the camaros have the gear selector in the console and the trucks have it down on the transmission. Just look at the previous 98 trucks with autos and that will show you.
the gear selector is just for telling the pcm and coordinating with the trans what gear it's in so it knows what to do with the electronics inside.
i have a 4l60e from the tahoe, had to replace it last year, and the bellhousing and the shaft is differnet, i don't think that will work for you. So if you beef one up get one that was bolted to a 99-03 truck or ls1.
the starter mold or whatever it's called on the bellhousing is also different from the ls1 So if you beefed that one up, you'd have to have the shaft replaced and get a new belhousing. Although, almost all the parts internal are identical.
I still have the stock rearend that came with my 94 truck w/ 4.3L v6. I think the reason it has lasted so long is most of my driving was done with a single track and 3.42's so not much power was getting to the ground. Now i have 4.10's and a posi so we'll see how long it lasts, so far so good, made several passes and all is good.
the 10bolts are a little stronger than most think, for the daily driver it's just fine, if you want more strength, replace the axles with some moser or strange or something.
