Hey all...
Hey all. Looking at buying a truck (Rebuilding my k1500 v6/5speed i rolled last year right now...cab swap and such). Today I went with my parents to look at a 91 scottsdale (350/5 speed) that was in decent shape...the guy wanted a bit too much for it, and it had 130k. The old man took me to look at some new stuff. I looked at some of the base halftons.. Veeeeerrry interesting to say the least....
So, tommorow morning I'm gonna go look at some stuff...maybe sign some papers...who knows. I'm gunning for finding a 5.3 5 speed c1500 completely stripped down (no ac or anything)..maybe I can find one! Got to keep it as simple and stripped as possible to keep the price a little lower (one nice thing is a little extra performance..common now I'm 18 and daddy dont buy my cars for me!). I'm looking at a 2wd more now becase A)I WAS gonna get a 4th gen camaro but realized I should wait a bit on that B)I love offroading, but it can get expensive. Atleast a 2wd truck I can have some fun with (not too extreme) and haul my atc250r to the pits and have some real offroad carnage going.. Maybe I'll still get a 4wd guess Ill let you guys know..In the meantime I'll read some of the other stuff around the forums...

Welcom to the sight. It may be hard to find a 5.3 with a 5 speed, I have seen some 4.8 but mostly 4.3v6. But good luck, don't know how well the 5speed performs either. But later on down the road you can always start swapping.

welcome. Good luck in your search!

There are several 4.8L and 5.3L's here in town for around 10K, for a 99 or so. Just keep looking and get what you want,
see ya online,

As far as I know they don't make a 5.3 / 5 speed, I tried to order a new one several times and I guess GM thinks we would have to much fun, I have had a half dozen 5 speeds and I prefer them over the auto's, I think it is OK for a woman to drive an automatic :puke: but if you are a man you need a stick.

I'd wait until next year fo' sho' before buying anything. All the older models will be even cheaper.

Well, I was gonna get something used. Like I said, looked at a couple and my father took me to look at some new stuff. I can afford it and such, just looking for the right combo and price...Looking for a new truck, simply put, becuase i want something that is mine. I really am hard on vehicles, and hopefully this is the first ride i'll baby on (everything motorized and drivable i have gotten my mitts on recieves a very throurough thrashing...as evidenced by all the vehicles in my yard). I want something that I know what is going on with it, its entire history, etc...something that no other 18 year old punk has had his mitts on youknow?
From all my sources , the 5.3 is not available with a 5 speed yet (though, from the looks of it if you get the right options it CAN be done, you just gotta check the right boxes...kinda like with how the original GTO and z28 packages were). I think what I am gonna do is just buy a v6 4x4 or 2x4 with a 5 speed, buy a 6.0 ls1 block, and build that. The new motor wont be dropped in until it is paid off. IF i can find a good deal, Ill go with a v8...the 4.8 can be found with a 5 speed apparently, but its far more popular with the automatic option. It will be a hotrod at some point, but maybe not...depends how much i love whatever i get...might not wanna mod it at all (find it VERY hard to believe...but maybe!)
