Is it better to run the 1/4 with tailgate up or down or just completly taken off?
I always take mine off but if I had a bedcover I would probally leave it on. Down would be better than up I would think.
I think off will create as much drag as up. I drive my Ford with it down on the freeway...the Z's got a Snugtop.
You could always run a few times to see the differences.
I always remove mine when I run the 1/4. I figure less wieght is better.

hmmm last time i ran i busted a 15.44 with a spare tire and tail gate on and up. and a toolbox not emptied.
before that run which was my quickest to date i ran a 15.49 with no spare tire and no tale gate.
same mods on each run. you tell me.doesnt make since to me......
i figured you would be slightly quicker with out the tire and tail gate but my times say else wise. might try it again in a week or two to test it again.
I would think off or down would be better. Wind will hit the tail gate and cause presure in the bed of the truck and would cause the the box that you are turning to move down the track to go slow because of the wind that will build up in the bed of the truck. Hows that for a load of BS. I don't know how much air would get cought in the bed to slow you down but I would think some would. My .02 cents. Try it and find out what is better. I just heard less wind restriction with tailgate up.
yep it deffinantly cant hurt anything.. :thumb:
One would think that 100+MPH of wind hitting a tailgate would create some drag. I also run with my rear slider window open, but just so I get a little air in the cab.
