yea me to ive got a blown 4.3 in a silverado its ok not fast enough though im going to put an ls1 in it. im just gonna need a little help alson on where and what kind of parts to go with.
Im in the same boat as you guys, i have a 2002 regular cab short bed with a v6 and it just does not cut it. I am also looking into putting a 5.3 or possibly 6.0 in it. I found a place where I can get a used motor for about 1100 but what else do i need (wiring harness, computer)?
Get all that you can with it, transmission, PCM, harness, fuse blocks, accessories, radiator....whatever they will give you. Sell anything you don't need to raise more funds. Nelson Performance can fix you up with a 4 or 5 wire wiring harness to simplify installation.
what transmission is recomended when swapping to a 5.3? Also, can someone tell me what number is associated with that transmission and others?
As for as selling everything else possible, how much do you think I could get for my motor and tranny with 144,000 miles on them?

If its your 4.3L motor. Prob no more than about $300. Thats just my guess though. Call some reckin yards and find out. GL

Yeah, probably $300 but I'd ask $400. Leave it running in the truck for a potential buyer to hear it run before pulling it. You'll sell it faster that way and get more for it. Nobody likes to buy an engine that is possibly crap and they won't know that until they install it.
ok...to help out from someone how's had it done...

You don't need a new fuse block
You don't need a new radiator.
