Spent most of the weekend getting my 5.3/T56 combo installed. The engine and tranny went in suprisingly easy. I mean we didn't do it in 5 minutes, but in a couple hours we had everything bolted in.
I ordered a kit from Keisler to relocate my shifter forward. I only had to trim the floor out about an inch toward the seat to mount the shifter itself, so other than the chrome Hurst stick, and 6 speed ball the truck will maintain its factory look on the interior.
Worked all day yesterday sorting out the original harness from the truck. I had a lot of help from a friend of mine and together we sorted everything out relatively quickly. Alan reworked my engine harness from the 5.3, and with all the wires marked clearly everything hooked up nicely.
Well about 4 yesterday, gave me the cue to see if the motor would turn, and it spun, but we had no power to the fuel pump. Once that problem was remedied, the truck fired immediatly. What a relief!!!
The cam sounds very good, though it was running with no exaust.
I still have to wire in all my gauges and clean up the remainder of the wiring on the truck. It is a mess right now, but I went to sleep last night at least knowing the thing will run.
Now if I can get the drive shaft shortened I can hit the road soon.
Alan is the MAN!!! Truck started quick with no pcm issues. I'll know more once I get to drive it but thanks and thanks to all you guys who have offered help and advice.
BTW does anyone know if a 4L60E transmission yolk will work with a t56. The one from my getrag 5 speed that came in the truck originally is too big.
I need a yolk and a shortened drive shaft and I'll be ready.
I'll try to get some pics up in the next week or so.
The engine looks like it was made for the truck
Thanks again

I'm sure the T-56 yolk is different from the auto. Sounds great it started right up. Almost finished!
