I was looking through some mags recently and have seen that good hood and some other companies have hood that resemble the camaro SS hood and the T/A ram air hoods. I was wondering if y'all think it would be possible to incorporate an SS or T/A ram air setup with one of these hoods. I realise that the hoods would need some modifications with a hole to line up with the filter and seal shut. I think it would be possible, since I saw chevy had a concept truck once with this type of setup on it. Just thought this would be something to ponder.

I can't recall what hood it was but look for a 99+ GMC truck on truckperformance.com and they have a ram air hood that actually routes thru the hood and into the intake track.

Well, most of the hoods I have seen with functional ram air route the air to the stock air box location on our trucks. The problem I have with this is that it is ineficient. What I want is a setup like the camaro's and T/A'a have, where the air come directly into the scoop, which the filter sits right behind. If I still had the article I could scan the picture and show you, but you probably already understand.
Thanks,

You will have a little room to place the air box because of the belts and fan. I think you will have to turn it upside down so it will seals agaist the hood and runs into the MAF throttle body. So the opening needs to be located between the motor and fan for a straight shot of air. It looks like there is enought room to do it but I am not sure about the short hosed to get the air into the motor. I would see how big the airbox is and if can mount were it needs to be for the hood. Then you need to make sure you can get the hose to work. The opening will be in the front 1/4 of the hood. If you want something bad enought you will find a way to get it done. Just off the top of my head no coffee yet. :twocents:

I was looking to buy either the cowl with flipper door or the SS style hood, my my local shop told me that fiberglass hoods are a pain to get to fit right. Does any one if this is the case, cause those hoods are almost $900 . Thats alot of money if it doesn't fit.

I have heard the same thing about the fiberglass hoods. I am really thinking about going the HD route. But, as far as fiberglass, hopefully someone can chime in and give advice on which company to go with.

From what I heard that company called Cervini, makes some of the best fiberglass hoods out there, but the don't make them for the 99 and up chevy or gmc yet.
