what do i have to do to remove the egr on my 2000 silverado any problems if i do
very easy, there is a kit you will need. Go to ls1speed.com. Look under 02 ls1 because they dont list the trucks. You will need the manifold plug and the header block off plate. That should do ya, if you have a custom tune you will need to have the egr codes turned off, doesnt hurt if they are on though.

what does removing the egr do with performance? or just in general?
yeah i think the dealer does have a similar kit.
It doesnt do anything to performance, its just there to help keep down emissions.

These gasses do not burn because they don't contain any oxygen, they help to keep comb. chamb. temps. down in turn helping with emissions. Although I think most egr valves are closed at WOT, deleteing it can't hurt performance as long as you are using good fuel.Quote:

They also help dirty up the inside of the intake manifold with the carbon. The carbon sticks to any oil residue caused by the pcv valve. My 01 manifold was very filthy!!
Sorry to dig up a dinosaur here, but as I recall, the 2002 Silverado does not have an EGR valve, is that correct?
