Here's where I am

Here's where I am boys. I am hoping to get the engine and transmission in the truck this weekend. I am putting a T56 behind the 5.3L you see in one of the pictures.
The engine is stock except for a 222/224 112LSA comp cam and a custom tune from Nelson Performance.
I still have some work to do on the transmission. I am moving the shifter forward so I don't have to change seats or cut up my truck any more. The tranny is in several pieces right now.
I hope to be able to clean up the wiring as I haven't taken the stock 4.3 pcm out of the truck.
Is there any reason to keep the original pcm and wiring harness.
I want to keep the stock gauges, I'm just not sure which wires I have to keep to connect back
to. Any help?

Oh yea that's my dad already cleaning up under the hood. He's been a ton of help.

I am very curious to how you are going to move the shifter forward. Please post pics and how you did it when you get it all set. I too am planning a T56 swap into my 95 auto when the money situation straightens out.

A T56 has about 6 different positions for the shifter. Take your's to a transmission shop and they can relocate it to whichever position you prefer.

Talk to keislerauto.com. They sell a kit (about &#036;300.00) that moves the shifter forward several inches. I will be glad to give you more details when I get it finished.
The transmission has a plate in the center of the main case which the shifter that I got from keisler will fit into.
I am kind of stuck right now because I am waiting on a puller that is long enough to get 5th and 6th gear out.
Basically what you get with the kit from Keisler is a new set of rails with a place for the shifter to engage which is in the center of the transmission. The center location gets the shifter (as I measure) very near the original location cut out of my floor. I may have to trim a little, but it should fit pretty well. The problem is, you have to take part of the tranny apart to change the shifter rails.
The reason I can&#39;t send pictures right now, is that the truck, engine, and tranny are in my dad&#39;s shop which is several miles from where I live.
I have grand plans to go "home" next weekend to transplant the 5.3 and t56 into the 92.
The plan is for the truck to look as near to stock on the interior as possible. It will have a hurst stick and 6 speed knob but otherwise will be the same as it is now.
Assuming I can get all the wiring for the gauges figured out.
I will certainly be adding a bunch of pictures of the entire project once I get a little further.
I will be glad to help any way I can. I am pretty excited about having the six speed, but I just can&#39;t post a lot of pics right now because the truck isn&#39;t here.
I can give some part #s if you need them.

Sounds good to me. I knew kiesler made trannys for trucks and they could relocated the shifter but I did not know that you could get a kit to do it yourself. What exactly are you using for the shifter? Is it long like the stock one? I was thinking I might have to have a machine shop fab me something up or something...

I ordered a Hurst curved chrome stick from summit. It took a while to match the part #, but I ordered the shifter stick that went with the hurst shifter that they made for those trucks.
The shifter is not near as long as the original, but comes back toward the driver more that stock.
I also ordered a black round 6 speed knob to add to the stick.
I can post the part #s later this afternoon when I find the invoice.
It probably wouldn&#39;t be a big deal for a machine shop to make one though.

BTW Keisler does not mention the relocation kit on their website, but if you call they have them. You have to have the transmission #s from the top of the case because there are about 4 variations of the t56 used for Fbodys, vettes, aston martin, and vipers.
I haven&#39;t installed my kit yet, but the quality looks very good. Nice billet steel shifter base.
It took me about a month to get the thing in the mail, so that was a hassel, but they were in the process of moving to a new location, so they had a reasonable excuse.

Hopefully all this will make more sense if I can ever get it in there and post some real live advise and pics.

Alright cool. I was hoping to be working on this project by now but the body shop where I had all my work done screwed me and now I need about 3k more of repair work to fix their erros if I even fix it at all. So that and money has put the whole project on hold. I am deffinately itchy to do this project , unfortunately I dont know alot of what im doing so I am going to need alot of help. I also live in mass so the weather doesnt cooperate either :( Anyways keep us posted on your progress.
