Driveshafts for swap? '98 with 4L65E

I've got everything out of the truck, and in the next day or two I'll be ready to drop in the LS2. My truck is a '98 Extended Cab 4WD, originally had a 350 in it. I bought a new manual floor shift transfer case and a 4L65E, both from 2004 1500 trucks, to go along with the LS2 in the swap. I know the stock driveshafts will not fit because of different splines in the transfer case and the fact that they are the wrong length, but does anybody know if driveshafts from a NBS will fit? They are the same wheel base, look to use the same u-joints on front/rear diff, and I would think the engine is mounted in the same spot between OBS and NBS.

I'd prefer to stay away from getting something cut/lengthed to fit if I can find something factory that will work.

Something better than an 88-98 fullsize? Does it exist? :nutz:

Does anybody have any idea on the driveshafts?

Started removing everything this past Saturday, hope to have it finished and running on Thursday. Would 5 days be any sort of record for this swap? :cool:

Would probably tie the record. One guy on here (or CTW) did a LQ9 swap into and 85 C10 in about 5 days, but was a carb&#39;d setup. If you have all parts, shouldn&#39;t be an issue for you. Driveshaft was an issue either way for me. No matter how I lined things up, my TH350 and 4L60E wouldn&#39;t sit to where I could use the stock shaft. Good luck on that...

Looks like the rear stock &#39;98 driveshaft will fit if I swap in a yoke from a NBS driveshaft. By my measurements, the new trans and tcase combo is within a 1/4" of the old setup. The front driveshaft is coming from a NBS because of different length and attachment at the t-case.

As long as the motor ends up in the same spot as the old one, everything should fit how I plan. Should find out in the next day or two.

Having the driveshaft shortend isnt a big deal at all. I had to shorten mine when I replaced the 10 bolt with a 14. Just make sure the person that does it is reputable.

Moving the motor back 1" on the motor mounts made all the stock stuff bolt right in. Much easier and cheaper than getting the driveshaft redone.

That would help weight balance as well. So everything work out ok then?

Those trucks are awesome to put these Gen III and now GEN IV engines in&#33; If it was my choice I would have a white &#39;98 ex cab Z71 with an LS6, but I&#39;m not bitchin about my 5.3 either.
